Dr. Forthofer and GussieDr. Larry Forthofer was born and raised a Buckeye, with family ties in the Northern Ohio area five generations deep. He aspired to be a veterinarian ever since he accompanied his uncle, Dr. Clinton Forthofer, on farm calls as a young boy. Larry has always held a special place in his heart for animals, beginning with life on a family farm, which included a variety of farm animals, pets and 4-H horse club activities.
Dr. Forthofer earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from The Ohio State University in 1973 and came home to the Cleveland area to begin his life's work. His passionate commitment for his patients, clients and profession continues to this day, as he pursues new and better ways to serve them.
Dr. Forthofer started his professional career as an equine and small animal practitioner in North Ridgeville, Ohio. In 1976, he launched his own mixed-animal practice in Grafton, Ohio, Lorain County Veterinary Clinic, which he has directed ever since.
Today the practice is focused on dog and cat health care and, in 2003, adopted the name change of Forever Friends Pet Hospital, Inc. to reflect its ideals and values.
In keeping with his commitment to provide the best care for pets, Dr. Forthofer used his expertise to build a premier pet resort, with lodging, indoor hydrotherapy (swimming) center, and a canine training facility and agility course in 2003.
Forever Friends Pet Care Center and Forever Friends Pet Hospital welcome pet owners who want the best care options for their animal companions.
