2006 Sponsored Pup "Aretha"
Aretha completed 5 months of harness training at
Guiding Eyes' Yorktown Heights, NY campus,
before deciding on an alternate career with the
ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) Department.
She graduated from the ATF in December 2007 and is
working as an Explosives Detection K9 with her partner,
Terry, in Lewisville Texas. Terry changed Aretha's name to
Rhetha. She was one of 19 ATF dogs that worked the week

Guiding Eyes for the Blind breeds and prepares guide dogs to be placed, free of charge,
with visually impaired people around the world.
Volunteer puppy raisers in the Cuyahoga region (near Cleveland, Ohio), act as foster parents to puppies until
they are old enough to begin formal guide dog training at GEB's training center in New York.
New puppy raisers are always in demand, and no prior experience is necessary!
Guiding Eyes provides training and support for its volunteers in the way of
local classes, regular puppy evaluations, video tapes and instruction manuals.
